What better way to celebrate “Tea for Two” Tuesday than sharing a cup at the Posh Club? Each week, about 100 guests gather across London and the South East for a glamorous cabaret-style party. But be careful, the access is restricted to over 60s only and dressing up is not optional.
Here, tea and scones are served on vintage china. Waiters in black tie host the night and a spectacular variety of shows are waiting for you. All the ingredients required for a pleasant night... except it is only two pm.
It all started when the mother of producer Simon Casson and his sister moved from London to Crawley and felt isolated. “We set up this club as an act of passion. Old folks need to be busy, otherwise they feel lonely,” says Simon.
After its success, they carried on and opened a club in five other locations thanks to support from the Baring Foundation. “We’d like the Posh Club to be in every town to bring communities together,” Simon continues.
“People don’t consider it as a community service but more as a big day at the Ritz, very glamourous and aspirational,” says Simon.
